The Atelier
Olker Rugs is a family atelier and export house. Every piece in this book was made the slow way — wool carded, spun and dyed to matched wool poms, then hand-knotted or hand-woven on the loom; nothing here has ever seen a machine. Most of what leaves the loom is a one-of — a single buyer’s size, colours and count. The catalogue is photographed rug by rug, with exact sizes and construction, and offered to the trade only, through the trade portal. This loom book is the other half of that work — the archive looked at slowly, plate by plate: the carve of a Moroccan pile, a strike-off corner, the shore-grey of a flatwoven kilim.
