Olker Rugs is a maker of handmade rugs, made for the trade alone. This site exists to present our work and allow trade buyers to apply for access to our catalogue. It is not a shop, and nothing is sold here. This policy sets out the little personal data we hold, and the parts we deliberately choose not to.
What we do not do
We state this first, as it removes most of what a privacy policy usually needs to cover.
- We employ no analytics of any kind. There is no Google Analytics, no Tag Manager, nor anything of the sort.
- We employ no advertising or tracking pixels. There is no Meta pixel and no remarketing tag.
- We set no tracking or advertising cookies. Browsing this site sets no cookies at all.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal data with anyone for their own purposes.
- We do not build visitor profiles, and we make no automated decisions about you.
What we collect, and only when you give it
Contact form
When you write to us through the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you provide. The submission reaches us by email and is held in no database on this website. We retain it only for as long as needed to answer you and to keep a record of the enquiry.
Trade access applications
The application on our trade access page asks for a contact name, business name, business email, and optionally a phone number, website, business type, city and country, along with a note on what you buy for. Only the name, business name, email and country are required.
Submissions reach us by email and are held in no database on this website. We use them solely to confirm your standing as a trade buyer and to establish your portal login. Approved accounts reside in the trade portal at trade.olkerrugs.com. We retain the email only for as long as needed to process and record your application.
Newsletter
Should you subscribe, your email address is entrusted to Mailchimp (Intuit Inc., United States), which stores it and sends correspondence on our behalf. We ask for nothing beyond the address. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list at once.
Cookies
Viewing this site sets no cookies whatsoever. We have confirmed this on the live site: a first time visitor loading a page receives none.
Cookies appear in only two circumstances. Should you log in to the WordPress administration area, WordPress sets session cookies strictly necessary to keep you signed in. Should you submit the contact form, the form plugin may set a short lived cookie to guard against duplicate submissions. Neither is used to track you, and neither follows you elsewhere.

Server logs are retained briefly for security and troubleshooting, then discarded. Mailchimp, Meta and Google reside in the United States, so subscribing or loading the site involves a transfer of data beyond the UK and EEA.
Embedded content
Pages on this site may embed video. Where hosted on our own server, playing it involves no third party. Our footer carries a live feed of recent posts from our Instagram account, and those images are served by Instagram, so loading a page transmits your IP address to Meta. Links to our Instagram and Facebook pages are ordinary links: nothing further loads from those services until you choose to follow one, at which point their own privacy policies apply.
Your rights
Wherever you reside, you may ask that we tell you what personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or provide it to you in a portable form. You may withdraw consent for the newsletter at any time. Write to info@olkerrugs.com and we will respond within one month.
If you are within the UK or the European Economic Area, the GDPR applies to you. Our lawful basis is your consent for the newsletter, and our legitimate interest in replying to you for enquiries and trade applications. You retain the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
If you are within California, the CCPA affords you the right to know what we collect and to request its deletion. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing from which to opt out.
Children
This is a trade site for businesses. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
Should this policy change, we will update the date above. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
